About
“Do less, enjoy more.” —Magda Gerber
Day/Time: Mondays 10am – 11:15pm
Location: Ted Lechowicz Woods (or indoors at Party Day in Lincoln Square in inclement weather – 4652 N Rockwell).
In this group, babies are free to move, explore, and play at their own pace, while adults step back to watch and reflect.
By setting aside the impulse to teach or entertain, we begin to see what is already happening—how babies learn through self-initiated movement, how they approach something new, and how they stay with an experience when it isn’t interrupted.
Over time, this often changes the experience of being with your child. Rather than feeling responsible for guiding or helping, it becomes easier to wait, to notice more, and to respond more thoughtfully when support is actually needed.
What This Supports
Babies develop through their own movement and exploration. When given time and space, they practice focus, problem-solving, and persistence in ways that don’t emerge when adults step in too quickly.
At the same time, adults begin to:
- see their child’s learning more clearly through observation
- understand the role of uninterrupted play
- recognize when to step in—and when not to
- experience more ease and confidence in their role
How the Group Works
Families join a small, consistent group of babies at similar stages.
This consistency allows trust to build over time—both between children and among adults. You remain with the same group as your child grows, creating a shared experience that deepens over months rather than resetting each session.
Each meeting includes:
- time for uninterrupted play and observation
- space for reflection on what you’re noticing
- connection with other parents engaged in the same process
